  • Statistic: the total market share of Windows 10 version 1903/1909 edition reach 75.2%

The version with the highest market share is naturally Windows 10 Version 1903. This version still has a market share of more than 50%. The main reason for this result is that Windows 10 Version 1909 is not much different from Windows 10 Version 1903 in essence, which results in not many users upgrading. Now, Windows 10 Version 1903 and Windows 10 Version 1909 currently have a combined market share of 75.2%.

All beta versions of Windows 10 Insider currently account for about 0.6%, and the share of Windows 10 Version 1703 and earlier versions is about 1.7%. Windows 10 Version 1703, the Fall Creators Update, currently has a market share of about 1.2%, while Version 1803 version has a market share of about 4.9%. Windows 10 Version 1809 has a market share of 16.4%, Version 1903 has a market share of 52.6%, and Version 1909 has 22.6%. It should be emphasized that Windows 10 Version 1803 and previous versions have reached the End-of-Support. Based on security considerations, users should not continue to use the old version.

Windows 10 currently has more than 1 billion users worldwide, and the total market share of Windows 10 Version 1803 and earlier versions is approximately 7.8%. Based on this share, at least 70 million users are currently using outdated versions, which will not receive Microsoft security support. Of course, some enterprise and education versions have additional extended support that may affect the accuracy of the above data, but users are still reminded to upgrade the supported version as soon as possible.

  • AdDuplex: Windows 10 Version 1903 market share reached 33%

AdDuplex released their August report, revealing various versions of Windows 10 market share. The report brought some good news for the Windows 10 May 2019 update. According to the AdDuplex statistics chart, Windows 10 version 1903 now has a market share of 33%, which is three times the figure in July. This data is based on more than 100,000 PCs running the UWP Store app, so this statistic does not depict the overall Windows 10 situation, and the actual data may be very different from the AdDuplex data.

Statistics show that Windows 10 version 1803 market share is still the first, reaching 33.1%, and Windows 10 version 1809 market share is third, accounting for 28.7%. The Windows 10 Fall Creator Update market share was 2.2%, while the Windows 10 Creator Update and the original version combined share was 2.8%.

  • Microsoft promises to resolve multiple issues affecting Windows 10 Version 1903 at the end of this month

In fact, compared to other versions just released, Windows 10 Version 1903 is not bad, most of the problems that appear in the Windows 10 Version 1903 are small problems. But what is more embarrassing is that in the cumulative update provided by Microsoft, it brings more new problems, and some of the problems are still more likely to seriously affect the users. Individual problems have even appeared for a long time. Microsoft has not been able to completely solve it. This time, Microsoft set a target for itself to resolve some serious problems at the end of this month.

  • Microsoft releases KB4505903 to fix Bluetooth connectivity and audio issues for Windows 10 version 1903

Recently, Microsoft once again introduced KB4505903 cumulative updates to Windows 10 Version 1903 to solve problems such as Bluetooth connectivity and audio failures and simulators. These problems are inherent in the release of Windows 10 Version 1903, and until now Microsoft has introduced a solution to fix it. Of course, it is customary to remind everyone that non-monthly routine updates are test-based, so you won’t receive this type of update without actively clicking the Check for Updates button.

After installing this update, the system version is upgraded to Build 18362.267, again emphasizing that this update has a test nature and does not recommend users to actively download the installation. If there are no surprises, the problem solved by this update will be fixed in the August 14th routine update. Users who are looking for stability can wait for the next month’s routine update.

  • Microsoft fixed Dolby sound and USB issues on Windows 10 Version 1903

According to Microsoft’s known issues and notifications, the company updated the Windows 10 Version 1903 status page a few days ago, indicating that some of the previous problems have been fixed. These issues include error attempting to update with the external USB device or memory card attached, the failure of Dolby sound effects, and the loss of Dynabook application connections. Of course, Microsoft has actually tested potential fixes in recent months, and until now Microsoft believes that the problem is completely resolved before deciding to update the status log.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18282

Error attempting to update with the external USB device or memory card attached

“If you have an external USB device or SD memory card attached when installing Windows 10, version 1903, you may get an error message stating “This PC can’t be upgraded to Windows 10.” This is caused by inappropriate drive reassignment during installation.
Sample scenario: An update to Windows 10, version 1903 is attempted on a computer that has a thumb drive inserted into its USB port. Before the update, the thumb drive is mounted in the system as drive G based on the existing drive configuration. After the feature update is installed; however, the device is reassigned a different drive letter (e.g., drive H).”

Audio not working with Dolby Atmos headphones and home theater

After updating to Windows 10, version 1903, you may experience loss of audio with Dolby Atmos for home theater (free extension) or Dolby Atmos for headphones (paid extension) acquired through the Microsoft Store due to a licensing configuration error.
This occurs due to an issue with a Microsoft Store licensing component, where license holders are not able to connect to the Dolby Access app and enable Dolby Atmos extensions.
Loss of functionality in Dynabook Smartphone Link app

Some users may experience a loss of functionality after updating to Windows 10, version 1903 when using the Dynabook Smartphone Link application on Windows devices. Loss of functionality may affect the display of phone numbers in the Call menu and the ability to answer phone calls on the Windows PC.

Now the above problem has been completely solved so that users can upgrade to Windows 10 version 1903.

  • 1.4% of users currently have upgraded Windows 10 version 1903

Microsoft has already started to push the official version of Windows 10 version 1903 to users earlier, of course, it is initially a small-scale batch push. So most of the current users have not received Windows 10 version 1903 Update because Microsoft still needs to collect data to ensure that this new version will not have critical bugs. Of course, some users who can’t wait have been actively upgraded.

According to the statistics released by ADDUPLEX, about 1.4% of all current Windows 10 users upgrade to version 1903. After all, it has only just begun to push, so this market share is not low, indicating that Microsoft’s push speed may be significantly faster than before. The current Microsoft’s biggest concern is that various compatibility issues affect user usage, so any compatibility detection will directly block the user’s upgrade. After the new version is gradually stabilized, Microsoft will increase its push. According to Microsoft’s previous plan, the company will launch a larger push from June.

  • Windows 10 Version 1903 exists known issues

Microsoft has just announced the release of the official version of Windows 10 Version 1903 and will start to push new version updates to some devices and users from now on. But even if this is already the official version, there are still many problems that have not been fixed. For example, a lot of users complain that the Windows 10 night mode is invalid.

    Windows 10 Build 17738

According to the update log, there are 12 known issues, 3 of which are listed as “investigating” and 9 are listed as “mitigated” and do not list the issues that have been fixed.

  • Microsoft has released Windows 10 Version 1903 to the MSDN

Although Microsoft emphasizes that Windows 10 version 1903 will continue to be tested, it will not be officially released until the end of next month. But now the official version has been completed, so Microsoft has begun to distribute in advance, such as the MSDN subscription portal can download the new version.

It should be emphasized that this MSDN subscription portal is a corporate subscription website provided by Microsoft. It is not the MSDN that we often download images. The Subscription Portal is currently available in Windows 10 Version 1903 consumer versions, Home and Professional, as well as related versions of Enterprise Channel. These versions provide ISO image file downloads for enterprise-level users to download and then manually upgrade the deployment, as well as SDKs based on this version.

As for when Microsoft will launch image files for ordinary users in advance, it is still unknown, but I believe that the MSDN version will soon be leaked.

  • Windows 10 version 1903 will retain 7GB of disk space to maintain system updates

The latest news from the official Microsoft blog shows that Windows 10 Version 1903 will use temporary files to fill the disk to preserve space updates.

Microsoft said that the new version will retain at least 7GB of disk space to maintain the normal update of the system. Usually, this part of the space will be filled with similar files by temporary files.

Under normal circumstances, if there is insufficient system space, there is no way to update automatically, because you need to download a large number of files to the local and then install.

    Image: Microsoft

    Microsoft explains,

“Starting with the next major update we’re making a few changes to how Windows 10 manages disk space. Through reserved storage, some disk space will be set aside to be used by updates, apps, temporary files, and system caches. Our goal is to improve the day-to-day function of your PC by ensuring critical OS functions always have access to disk space. Without reserved storage, if a user almost fills up her or his storage, several Windows and application scenarios become unreliable. Windows and application scenarios may not work as expected if they need free space to function. With reserved storage, updates, apps, temporary files, and caches are less likely to take away from valuable free space and should continue to operate as expected. Reserved storage will be introduced automatically on devices that come with version 1903 pre-installed or those where 1903 was clean installed. You don’t need to set anything up — this process will automatically run in the background. The rest of this blog post will share additional details on how reserved storage can help optimize your device.”

“When apps and system processes create temporary files, these files will automatically be placed into reserved storage. These temporary files won’t consume free user space when they are created and will be less likely to do so as temporary files increase in number, provided that the reserve isn’t full. Since disk space has been set aside for this purpose, your device will function more reliably. Storage sense will automatically remove unneeded temporary files, but if for some reason your reserve area fills up Windows will continue to operate as expected while temporarily consuming some disk space outside of the reserve if it is temporarily full.”

Microsoft dynamically adjusts the reserved space according to the actual situation of Windows 10 versions. 7GB is the reserved space of Windows 10 Version 1903.
