Synology Launches DiskStation DS423
Synology announces the release of the DiskStation DS423, incorporating a four-bay design, as a multifaceted storage product intended for home offices and small businesses. Synology asserts that the DS423, a compact data storage solution, comes equipped with all the essential features users require, including data backup, surveillance system setup, and file and other media management. It offers a plug-and-play experience.
The DiskStation DS423, with its overall dimensions of 184 mm x 168 mm x 230 mm and a weight of 2.21kg, comprises four 3.5-inch drive bays, capable of housing four 3.5-inch HDDs or 2.5-inch SATA SSD/HDDs. It can store, organize, and share up to 72TB of data, supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10, without M.2 slots or PCIe expansion slots. It utilizes the Realtek RTD1619B processor, which contains four Arm Cortex-A55 cores, manufactured using a 12nm process. It has a base frequency of 1.1GHz and a boosted frequency of 1.7GHz. The integrated graphics is the Mali-G51 MP3, and it also features an NPU unit, offering 1.6 TOPS of computational power, with a TDP of 5W, and is paired with 2GB of DDR4 memory.
The DiskStation DS423 boasts two Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.2 Gen1 interfaces, all located at the rear of the chassis. It is paired with a 90W power adapter. This NAS is equipped with dual fan cooling, with fans measuring 80 mm x 80 mm, offering three modes: Silent, Cool, and Full-Speed, with a noise level provided by Synology of 20.6 dB(A).
Synology integrates data protection features, with an all-in-one data protection mechanism designed for user data security. As a solution for managing your documents, photos, and other files, and for backing up software data and crucial devices, the DiskStation DS423 supports a dedicated private cloud for seamless data access, multi-tier backup, and intelligent surveillance.
Synology has not yet provided pricing for the DiskStation DS423, but it should be available in the market shortly.
