Synology recently
launched the DiskStation DS223 NAS, a dual-bay design, for homes or small offices.
The DS223 measures 165x108x233mm and weighs 1.28 kg. It has dual 3.5-inch hard drives, no M.2 slot or PCIe expansion slot, is equipped with 2GB DDR4 memory, and is equipped with a Realtek RTD1619B processor. The processor was launched at CES 2022. It has an ARM architecture and uses a 12nm process technology. It has four Cortex-A55 cores, a base frequency of 1.1GHz, an acceleration frequency of 1.7GHz, and a TDP of 5W. The processor is also equipped with an NPU unit with a computing power of 1.6 TOPS.
RTD1619B’s GPU is Mali-G51 MP3, adopts Bifrost architecture, three-core design, frequency is 650MHz, supports Vulkan, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2, and other API interfaces, supports H.265 4K@60FPS, H.264 4K@30FPS, 1080p@60FPS video decoding, and H.264 1080p@60FPS video encoding.
In terms of interfaces, DS223 has a Gigabit Ethernet port and three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one on the front panel and two on the rear of the chassis. DS223 is powered by a circular DC interface, and the power adapter specification is 60W. DS223 is equipped with a single system fan, the size is 92mmx92mm, and it has three modes: full speed, low temperature, and silent.
