Stack Overflow introduces CROKAGE, Search Stack Overflow tool

Many developers use Stack Overflow to search for problems encountered in development. Sometimes there is a common explanation in the results of the query, and it is better to bring the code demo, but it is still difficult to meet the requirements perfectly. However, the recent official blog of Stack Overflow introduces an intelligent technology that may solve this problem.

The new technology is called CROKAGE (Crowd Knowledge Answer Generator), which comes from a paper published by a computer science research team earlier this year. CROKAGE can use questions as queries and then return relevant and comprehensive. The programming solution, so-called comprehensive, means that it not only has code snippets but also a concise natural language explanation, so developers don’t have to piece together a solution in many answers.

CROKAGE uses millions of Q&As on Stack Overflow as a training corpus for training and extends natural language queries (task descriptions), including a unique open-source software library and functional terminology that has been carefully explored from Stack Overflow.

The research team also compared the results, as shown in the following figure. In the comparison, CROKAGE gives the suggested answers, the relevance of the code examples, the clarity of the code interpretation, and the quality of the overall solution (that is, the code + interpretation). Overall quality) produces better results than the most advanced tools available today.
