Spotify tests in-app podcast creation tools in New Zealand

Spotify recently quietly tested new features that allow users to record, edit, and distribute podcast content directly from the Spotify app. This feature has only been tested in New Zealand first, allowing users to create Podcast content without additional tools, which means it will enhance the stickiness of the Spotify app.

Prior to this, Spotify, through resources such as Anchor acquired in 2019, allowed users to create Podcast content through these resources. However, users must use additional software services, and even for better sound quality performance, they must be equipped with additional hardware devices for radio. The new function tested this time is obviously to allow users to directly stay in the Spotify app to complete the production of Podcast content.

According to Spotify’s instructions, in the test content, just click the “+” in the upper right corner of Spotify’s “Your Library” to select “Create Playlist” or “Record Podcast”. After selecting “Record Podcast”, users can record through the simple operation interface. You can also choose to pause during recording and edit later, or even select an available track as background music. You can also write titles, intros, or tag other podcasts, songs, and more for Podcast content. It is not yet possible to confirm when Spotify is expected to open this feature to the outside world, and whether it will also provide an analysis report on Podcast content listening data.
