Sony unveils lineup of games for PlayStation Plus subscription service

Sony announced an upgraded tiered subscription service code-named “Spartacus” in March this year. The new service combines PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now and adds features from the premium service, phasing out the PlayStation Now brand while retaining the PlayStation Plus brand. Last month, Sony confirmed that the new subscription service will be launched in batches between May and June in different parts of the world.

Now Sony has further updated the PlayStation Plus information, confirming the game lineup for the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

The new PlayStation Plus tiered subscription service is divided into three tiers: the first tier (Essential) is basically the current PlayStation Plus, and players can only download two games per month; the second tier (Extra) combines PlayStation Plus with some of the current features of PlayStation Now, with up to 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games that can be played casually in the game library; the third tier (Premium), in addition to all the features in the second tier, can stream games using PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and offers a library of classic games that will also include consoles such as the PlayStation 2 and PSP.

This time, Sony also announced the classic game library enjoyed by members who purchased the third-tier (Premium) service, as well as limited-time trial games. Sony says some games in its classic library have higher frame rates and resolutions than the original release and plans to add some classic remasters of previous consoles. Additionally, the PlayStation Plus library of games is regularly updated over time, so players can always play something new.
