Sony releases new BRAVIA XR TV
Sony released BRAVIA XR series TVs at CES 2021. The biggest highlight is that it is equipped with a brand-new XR processor, which can adjust the sound position in real-time according to the position of the video screen.
The BRAVIA XR TV lineup includes three LCD TVs and two OLED TVs. LCD TV series includes Z9J Master Series 8K, X95J 4K, and BRAVIA XR series main model X90J 4K. The OLED TV series includes the flagship model A90J 4K with unprecedented brightness and color and the OLED model A80J 4K.
The new BRAVIA XR TV is driven by the Cognitive Processor XR. The chip uses a new processing method different from traditional artificial intelligence (AI), which can imitate the cognitive methods of human vision and hearing to process and optimize TV content.
Sony believes that as TV screens become larger and larger, TV users need to focus more on certain parts of the screen instead of the entire screen, and TVs should more faithfully present images to viewers as the size increases. Based on the professional experience that Sony has accumulated in the development of image processing chips, Sony focused on cognitive features in product development and finally launched the BRAVIA XR Cognitive Processor.
In addition to the image quality improvement, the BRAVIA XR chip also enhances the surround sound, adding two additional channels from the top. All Sony TVs this year will have a built-in Google TV operating system, standard HDMI 2.1, support 4K at 120fps, and adapt to next-generation game consoles. Product prices and launch dates will be announced in the spring of 2021.
