Sony has officially registered the PS6/PS7/PS8/PS9/PS10 trademarks
Sony has officially registered five new trademarks, PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10. Sony has announced that the next-generation game console PlayStation 5 will be available for sale in the 2020 winter holiday season. This is the follow-on model of the PlayStation 4. The new PlayStation has a lot of hardware upgrades over the previous generation, using ultra-high-speed custom SSDs and custom processors made by AMD.
Sony has now prepared potential names for the five generations of PlayStation consoles that may appear in the future. The five trademarks were officially submitted by Sony earlier this month, although the application for a trademark does not mean that it will be officially launched, perhaps just to prevent other vendors from launching products of the same name to confuse consumers.
Sony also registered the PS4 and PS5 trademarks in advance as early as 2006. The PS4 was released in 2014 and the PS5 will be released by the end of 2020.
