Sipeed launches Lichee Pi 4A compact computer
Liliputing was quoted as saying that Sipeed released the Litchi Pi 4A single-board computer a few days ago. It is reported that it has a higher performance than Raspberry Pi 4. This single-board computer is based on the RISC-V SoM LM4A released by Sipeed earlier.
The core of Sipeed Lichee Pi 4A is Alibaba T-Head TH1520 RISC-V SoC, and the CPU part is a quad-core black iron C910 with a frequency of 1.8GHz. It also has a Xuantie C906 as a DSP coprocessor and a low-power processor Xuantie E902. Its GPU computing power reaches 50.7GFLOPS and supports various APIs such as OpenGL, OpenCL, and Vulkan. In addition, it even has a 4TOPS NPU, which can support machine learning platforms such as TensorFlow, which is not available in the mainstream Raspberry Pi 4B.
The memory of Sipeed Lichee Pi 4A is LPDDR4x-3733, and the optional capacity is 4/8/16GB; eMMC is used as storage, and the optional capacity is 32/64/128GB. The carrier board has USB 3.0, WLAN, and Bluetooth modules, a 3.5mm audio interface, 20pin header, and other IO interfaces.
According to the test data of Sipeed, Litchi Pi 4A surpassed Raspberry Pi 4B in Dhrystone and CoreMarks performance tests.
The Raspberry Pi uses the Broadcom BCM2711 with ARM architecture, and the CPU part is a quad-core Cortex-A72 with a frequency of 1.5GHz. And in terms of IO, video codec, and system support, the Raspberry Pi 4B is not as rich as the Litchi Pi.
In addition, Sipeed also plans to launch a variety of devices based on Litchi Pi 4A, including clusters, routers, 10.1-inch tablet PCs, and 6-inch mobile phones. Combined with the support of more systems such as Debian, Android, and OpenWRT, the playability of this single-board computer can be called very rich. As for the release time, Sipeed stated that Litchi Pie 4A will be released in the first quarter of 2023 and is currently available for pre-order.
