Simply NUC has launched two new mini-PCs with Intel Alder Lake UE processor
From the name of the company Simply NUC, it is evident that their primary business is focused on mini-PCs, and moreover, not the kind of non-Intel NUCs. According to Liliputing‘s report, the company has recently introduced a new product line, named Chapel Rock, which features Intel Alder Lake UE embedded processors and supports the Intel vPro platform.
Currently, Chapel Rock has two models, LLN12CRv7 and LLN12CRv5. The former is equipped with a 15W Core i7-1265UE processor, featuring 2 P-Core + 8 E-Core, with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.70GHz. It can be viewed as a variant of the 9W Core i7-1260U. The latter is equipped with an i5-1245UE, which also features 2 P-Core + 8 E-Core, with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.40GHz. It can be considered a variant of the i5-1245U and a series of similar processors.
Both NUCs come with a starting configuration of 4GB DDR4 memory, a 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD, and a free system installation service. In addition, Simply NUC allows users to customize their device configurations freely. If willing to add to the budget, the manufacturer will help install 64GB DDR4 dual-channel memory, an 8TB PCIe M.2 SSD, and a 2TB M.2 SATA SSD.
In terms of I/O interfaces, Simply NUC has designed four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports that support DP Alt mode, a 3.5mm audio jack, one HDMI 2.0b port, and one DP 1.4a port for Chapel Rock. Of course, there are also 2.5G dual network ports that excite some gamers.
As for the price, Chapel Rock is much more expensive than regular NUCs. The starting price for LLN12CRv7 is $1119, and for LLN12CRv5, it is $969. Simply NUC stated that these NUCs are positioned for commercial use, and are intended for use in vending machines and self-service terminals. The higher price is actually paid for the stability of the NUCs, and they offer a 3-year warranty for them. Overall, individual users are probably not the target market for these devices.
