Samsung shows off new displays folding OLED, slidable displays, under-display camera panel
Samsung exhibited a series of new panels at the Display Week 2021 exhibition held online, giving the public a glimpse of the screens on Samsung’s future devices. The most notable of these new screens is the larger foldable panel and the under-display camera panel.
In fact, there have always been rumors that Samsung is preparing to launch a double-folding Galaxy device, and the S-Foldable OLED panel exhibited this time is even more conclusive. The two folding parts of this screen should be able to operate independently, which means that only one side can be folded/opened at the same time. In the fully folded state, the size of the device should be similar to that of an ordinary mobile phone, and when fully unfolded, the screen can be expanded to 7.2 inches.
After experiencing the successful folding screen experience on mobile devices, Samsung also intends to bring the folding screen to tablet computers. Samsung also exhibited a folding screen for tablets, which is 17 inches in size after being fully flattened, with a 4:3 ratio. For tablet computers, this may be a good upgrade, because, with the folding screen, the size of the tablet screen is comparable to that of the notebook screen. I believe there will be a lot of progress in both gameplay and productivity.
Another thing that is often talked about is Samsung’s slidable displays. At Display Week 2021, Samsung finally exhibited a prototype OLED slidable display. In fact, in the past year, many companies have launched their own slidable screens, because this kind of screen can control the thickness of the device more effectively than a folding screen. What products Samsung will launch based on this screen in the future is also very exciting.
The last is the under-display camera panel. This screen is used on a notebook, and the camera is located at the upper edge of the screen, which can provide a very wide camera angle.
