Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, inflation, supply chain problems, and the global economic downturn, the demand for smartphones has been greatly reduced. The decline in Samsung’s overall smartphone shipments and the failure of the Galaxy S22 series to meet expectations have also prompted Samsung to consider adjusting its Galaxy product line.
According to
SamMobile, Samsung will adjust its strategy for smartphones in 2024. There are reports that
Samsung will reduce the size of the Galaxy A series, and there will be no replacements for the Galaxy A24, which means that Samsung will release the Galaxy A15, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A55 in 2024, but there will be no more Galaxy A2x models. Samsung hopes to improve profitability while reducing development costs by reducing the number of Galaxy A-series devices it develops. For those potential users who want to buy the Galaxy A2x model, they can only choose the Galaxy A15 with a lower positioning or the Galaxy A35 with a higher positioning.
The Galaxy A series is mainly aimed at the mid-range market, and sales are high, so it is debatable whether downsizing will make a difference. In theory, focusing on fewer models can improve development efficiency and quality.
SamMobile said that in order to fill the gap in the market that may be caused by the downsizing of the Galaxy A series, Samsung also intends to restart the Galaxy Fan Edition (FE) series. Since the release of the Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung has shelved this product line.
As for when Samsung will relaunch the Galaxy Fan Edition series models, it is still unclear. Although there are rumors that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S23 FE in August or September of this year, it is more likely to choose to release the Galaxy S24 FE in January next year. No matter how Samsung adjusts, it indicates that its smartphone layout will change in 2024.
