Samsung folding laptop patent exposures: foldable twice, improve portability

It seems that there has been a wave of folding screen mobile phones recently. From the end of last year to the beginning of this year, a number of domestic folding screen mobile phones have appeared, which directly target Samsung’s folding screen products. But have you ever wondered what it would be like to design a laptop in a foldable shape as well? Will it become one of the future laptop forms? And Samsung is chasing that answer.

letsgodigital said that Samsung has applied to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)  for a patent on the design of the laptop’s folding shape, which can bring the laptop two folds. The patent shows that the first folding is to close the computer screen conventionally, and then it can be folded again to form a double-folding design.

As can be seen from the patent drawing, the display part and keyboard part of the laptop has built-in hinges, which are convenient for users to fold twice. The final shape is that the original D side of the laptop becomes the front and rear sides after folding. It can also be seen that this laptop also provides 2 batteries, one on the left and one on the right.

Such a design does bring convenience in portability, but its cost will certainly not be low. There is also whether it will be mass-produced and released in the end, it remains to be seen, after all, this patent has just been approved. Having said that, Samsung’s research and development spirit of the folding screens are still worth learning.
