RHEL 8.0 Beta doesn’t include NoSQL MongoDB database server

In October last year, MongoDB announced that its open source license was switched from GNU AGPLv3 to the Server Side Public License (SSPL), hoping to generate revenue from software as a service or cloud computing business. But changing the license is causing the main Linux distribution to stay away from MongoDB, and this effect is being reflected.

According to Redhat 8 Beta document, “the NoSQL MongoDB database server is not included in RHEL 8.0 Beta because it uses the Server Side Public License (SSPL).”

Debian developers are also discussing not including MongoDB in the main library; Fedora announced that SSPL (currently V1) is not a free software license, which also means it will not contain MongoDB.
