Resident Evil Village has surpassed 8 million units sold

Capcom has proudly declared that worldwide sales of ‘Resident Evil Village’ have triumphantly surpassed eight million units, attributing this success to the unwavering support of their devoted fanbase, to whom they express profound gratitude.

Launched in May 2021, ‘Resident Evil Village’, the eighth installment in the mainline ‘Resident Evil’ series, graced a host of platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Mac, which also underwent stringent hardware requirements testing. The inclusion of ray tracing and AMD Fidelity FX effects by Capcom, aimed to enhance the gaming atmosphere and next-gen visual experiences, stirred considerable interest among gaming enthusiasts.

In retrospect, Capcom’s reports reveal that by July 2021, accumulated sales of ‘Resident Evil Village’ had already reached a staggering 4.5 million. By January 2022, within a span of fewer than nine months post-launch, the sales exceeded 5.7 million units, thereby securing its position as the fastest-selling entry in the ‘Resident Evil’ series. The fiscal report released in May 2022 revealed that total global sales had eclipsed 6.1 million units, with an estimated 400,000 units sold in the first quarter of 2022 alone. Thus, in the previous year, ‘Resident Evil Village’ had spectacularly managed to sell approximately two million additional units.

Furthermore, beginning February 22, 2023, Capcom initiated the distribution of ‘Resident Evil Village’s’ VR mode, a complimentary DLC, leveraging the capabilities of the PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) headset. They ensured gamers that the unique and crystal-clear imagery offered by the 4K HDR display would provide a superior visual experience. Alongside the application of eye-tracking and 3D audio technologies, a surreal, immersive experience was guaranteed, evoking a sensation of being right in the thick of it.
