Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon X75
Qualcomm announced the launch of the Snapdragon X75 5G modem and radio frequency system. This is Qualcomm’s sixth-generation modem-to-antenna solution and the world’s first 5G Advanced-ready modem and RF system, which is the next stage in the evolution of 5G technology.
The Snapdragon X75 is the first modem and RF system to use a dedicated hardware tensor accelerator (Qualcomm 5G AI Processor Gen 2). It adopts a new modem-to-antenna upgradeable architecture, and introduces the Qualcomm 5G AI Processor Gen 2 kit at the same time, achieving higher connection speed, mobility, link robustness, and positioning accuracy, as well as wider network coverage. Qualcomm’s 5G AI suite supports multiple advanced AI-based features, including the world’s first sensor-assisted millimeter-wave beam management and second-generation AI-enhanced GNSS positioning, all of which are uniquely optimized for the Snapdragon X75.
The Snapdragon X75 has several key features, including the world’s first ten-carrier aggregation for mmWave frequency band, the world’s first sub-6GHz frequency band downlink five-carrier aggregation, and FDD uplink MIMO; converged RF transceivers for millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz frequency bands, combined with the new fifth-generation Qualcomm QTM565 millimeter wave antenna module, reduce cost, power consumption, and occupied area; support Qualcomm advanced modem and RF software suite; AI-based sensor-assisted mmWave beam management for outstanding connection reliability; fourth-generation Qualcomm 5G PowerSave and Qualcomm RF Energy Efficiency Kit extend battery life; Qualcomm tri-band Wi-Fi 7 supports 320MHz channels; support 5G Dual SIM Dual Access (DSDA) and Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS); fourth-generation Qualcomm Smart Transmit for fast, reliable, long-distance uploads and includes support for Snapdragon Satellite.
In addition, Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon X72 5G modem and radio frequency system, targeting the mainstream market for mobile broadband applications. The Snapdragon X75 is currently sampling, and commercial terminals are expected to be released in the second half of 2023.
