Qualcomm to launch Snapdragon 6 Gen1

Over the past year, Qualcomm has been rebranding the original Snapdragon series, replacing the original Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 700 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen1. Qualcomm hopes to use the new naming and branding to ensure consumers can more easily understand its positioning and reduce confusion.

Recently, Twitter user @evleaks revealed that Qualcomm will continue to implement a streamlined route and adopt a more consistent naming method, and will soon launch the next-generation Snapdragon 6 Gen1, to replace the original Snapdragon 600 series, specifically the Snapdragon 695. This leak also brings a detailed picture of the Snapdragon 6 Gen1 parameters, exposing the specifications and functions of the Snapdragon 6 Gen1.


The part model of the Snapdragon 6 Gen1 is SM6450, which is manufactured using a 4nm process and is expected to be manufactured by Samsung. The Kyro CPU frequency is 2.2GHz, supports 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and USB 3.1, supports 120Hz FHD+ resolution, and Quick Charge 4 Plus fast charging technology. It uses the Snapdragon X62 5G modem, supports 5G mmWave and Sub-6GHz bands, and Smart Transmit 2.0 technology. The FastConnect 6700 mobile connectivity system supports Wi-Fi 6E, as well as Bluetooth 5.2.

The new generation of mid-range mobile platforms can support 13MP triple cameras, 25MP+16MP dual cameras, and 48MP single camera. In terms of video, it supports 4K HDR, up to 30FPS, and supports 240FPS slow-motion video shooting at 270P resolution.

It is unclear when Qualcomm will release the Snapdragon 6 Gen1 and when the related smartphones will be available, but the new SoC will bring a lot of improvements and is expected to be adopted by a considerable number of manufacturers.
