Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G mobile platform

Qualcomm launched a new generation of flagship mobile phone chip Snapdragon 888 in December last year. This is the third 5G SoC based on the 5nm process after Kirin 9000 and Samsung Exynos 1080. This is also Qualcomm’s first integrated flagship-level 5G SoC, which integrates the Snapdragon X60 5G baseband to replace the Snapdragon 865.

Snapdragon 888 is manufactured using Samsung’s 5nm process, and it debuted a new super-large core ARM Cortex-X1 with a frequency of 2.84GHz. At the same time, there are three 2.4GHz A78 cores, four 1.8GHz A55 cores, GPU graphics core upgraded to Adreno 660, support WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2. At the same time integrated Qualcomm’s sixth-generation AI engine, including the newly designed Qualcomm Hexagon processor, the second-generation Sensing Hub sensor hub. Integrated is Qualcomm‘s third-generation 5G modem and radio frequency system Snapdragon X60, which supports all major global millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz frequency bands, as well as 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM function, independent (SA) and non-independent (NSA) groups Network mode and dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS).
Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G
At the recently held MWC 2021, Qualcomm officially released the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G mobile platform. From the naming, it can be understood that it is an upgraded product of the original Snapdragon 888. Compared with Snapdragon 888, Snapdragon 888 Plus has not changed much. Among them, the frequency of the Cortex-X1 super core has been increased from 2.84 GHz to 3 GHz, and the computing power of the AI engine has also increased from 26 TOPS to 32 TOPS.
Since the Snapdragon 888 Plus is still manufactured with Samsung’s 5nm process and the frequency is higher, the heat generation problem is even more worrying. Previously, the performance of the Snapdragon 888 has caused headaches for many users.

Xiaomi, VIVO, ASUS, and Honor have all stated that they will launch products based on the Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G mobile platform and are expected to meet with consumers in the third quarter of this year.
