Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 480 5G mobile chip
After launching the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship processor, Qualcomm has now launched the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G mobile processor targeted at low-end devices.
The biggest highlight of this processor is to support 5G networks because Qualcomm’s previous 5G processors are priced on the high side, so more manufacturers choose MediaTek.
Previous market survey data showed that MediaTek’s market share has exceeded Qualcomm, and MediaTek’s strategy is to rely on a large number of high-quality and cheap mobile processors.
Now Qualcomm has come back with a cheaper 5G mobile processor, it not only supports 5G in all directions but also improves performance by 100% compared to previous similar products.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 mobile processor has Qualcomm Snapdragon X51 5G modem and supports mmWave millimeter-wave network and Sub-6GHz 5G.
The mobile processor uses the X51 modem to support 5G networks, which can realize near-instant upload and download, and supports multiple frequency networking.
With Qualcomm FastConnect 6200, the mobile processor also provides 2×2 WiFi and WiFi 6 functions, such as MIMO 8×8 and many other features.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor can keep smartphones high-performance while reducing power consumption, and also supports fast charging.
The processor has a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU, Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU, and Hexagon 686 processor.
It can increase the performance of CPU and GPU by 100% compared with the previous generation of the same type of product, and the AI performance can be increased by as much as 70% compared with the previous generation of the same type of product.
In addition, the mobile processor also supports Qualcomm QC 4+ charging technology, which is the first time Qualcomm has brought QC 4+ charging technology to Qualcomm Snapdragon 4XX series processors.
Snapdragon 480 uses Qualcomm Spectra 345 ISP to capture beautiful pictures and videos, and the processor supports up to three cameras.
The triple 13MP photo shooting function can take pictures from ultra-wide-angle, wide-angle, and telephoto cameras at one time, and also supports simultaneous shooting of videos with a triple resolution of 720P.
The display supports up to 120FPS FHD+. The display provides users with incredible content clarity and a fast, stable, and smooth graphics rendering experience.
The platform provides an entertainment experience through Qualcomm aptX audio technology, provides the best experience for popular games, and can increase the startup speed.
Qualcomm said that the processor will be shipped from the beginning of this year, when vivo, OPPO, HMD Nokia, etc. will launch devices equipped with the processor.
