Qualcomm launches new Android flagship chip Snapdragon 888

As expected, Qualcomm officially announced the launch of its new Android flagship chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which integrates X60 5G chips to achieve global compatibility.

In terms of naming, the processor name should be Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 in order, but obviously, Qualcomm has chosen the auspicious number of 888.

So Qualcomm seems to have modified the name on this processor. It is estimated that the new flagship chip launched next year may return to the Snapdragon X75 style.

This processor integrates Qualcomm’s third-generation modem Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G chip, which is compatible with the networks of all major operators in the world.

Through X60 5G chip equipment, it can support mmWave millimeter-wave and sub-6 networks and support 5G operators to adopt aggregated, independent, and non-independent networking.

The advantage of the integrated modem is that there is no need for the manufacturer to reserve a place in a narrow space, which is why the X55 chip plug-in was complained about by many netizens last year.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 integrates the 6th generation Qualcomm artificial intelligence engine to improve overall performance, and its floating-point operations per second (FLOPS) reached an astonishing 26 trillion.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor is also continuing to improve its imaging technology, which will help turn high-performance smartphones into professional-quality cameras.

Through the faster Qualcomm Spectra ISP users can quickly take photos or videos, and continuous shooting of 120 12-megapixel photos is 35% faster than the previous generation.

In terms of graphics rendering, Qualcomm Snapdragon has already launched independent driver updates, which means that now smartphones can regularly install drivers to improve performance.

The newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon processor also supports independent driver updates. Qualcomm will provide driver updates for the chip to improve rendering speed and frame rate.

For example, the frame rate can support up to 144 FPS, and the third-generation Qualcomm Elite gaming function can bring higher performance to the Adreno GPU of the Snapdragon 888 processor.

At present, this new processor has just been released and will be adopted by manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, ASUS, LG, OnePlus, Lenovo, and others next year.
