PlayStation Welcomes Former Deviation Games Talent to New Team
Deviation Games, a gaming studio founded in 2020 by Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell, seasoned veterans from the “Call of Duty” series, initially set out to release an original, exclusive game for PlayStation. However, the studio’s journey encountered significant hurdles: Jason Blundell left the studio in September 2022, and by March of this year, Deviation Games had closed its doors, leaving the nature of their planned exclusive game undisclosed.
However, according to a report by VGC, the fate of Deviation Games has recently taken a positive turn. Michael Anthony, a former employee, stated on LinkedIn: “Hey, I hear that a lot of previous Deviation Games employees have setup their own studio at Sony working on an undisclosed new IP.”
“All the people I see working there that have signed up are top class developers and hope that you can create a top class new IP with your studio that hopefully gives you all the time you need to create a quality product and not have to deal with red tape from previous projects.”
Furthermore, a tweet from December last year by former Deviation Games employee JC Farmer revealed, “I’ve been wanting to say this for a while, but now I finally can! I’m a Junior Game Designer @PlayStation Studios.”
This implies that Jason Blundell, one of the founders of Deviation Games, is also with PlayStation. It seems that Sony may have absorbed most of Deviation Games’ staff, although it remains uncertain whether the secret development project is the same as the one previously intended by Deviation Games.
