Physical photos of new Intel Alder Lake-S engineering samples exposed

The time for Intel to release the Intel 12th-generation Core series processors is getting closer and closer. As its first desktop processor based on the 10nm Enhanced SuperFin process, it is also the first x86 desktop processor with big.LITTLE hybrid architecture. There is not much news about Alder Lake-S recently. At Intel Architecture Day 2021 last week, Intel gave a more in-depth introduction to the microarchitecture of Alder Lake

According to Alder Lake’s timetable, there should have been a considerable amount of production, but not many physical photos have been exposed. The last time was more than half a year ago. According to HKEPC reports, a new physical photo of Alder Lake-S engineering samples appeared recently. The display code is QWVO and the frequency is 1.6 GHz. Compared with other leaked photos, although it has been quite a while, the Alder Lake-S processor does not seem to have changed much, and the package design, part layout, and HIS are all similar.

Intel recently stated on Hot Chips 33 that its P-Core core (Golden Cove) single-thread performance is about twice that of E-Core core (Gracemont). If you use 2 P-Core cores + 8 E-Core cores, the performance is 50% higher than 4 P-Core cores, but the power consumption is almost the same, and more E-Core cores will have advantages in I/O data processing.
