Phison launches the enterprise-class SSD platform X1

Phison announced the launch of the enterprise-class SSD platform X1, which provides the industry’s most advanced enterprise-class PCIe 4.0 SSD solution. Phison said the new platform was designed in partnership with Seagate and incorporates Phison’s latest exclusive technology to meet the changing needs of data centers around the world.

According to Phison, the X1 SSD platform uses the PS5020-E20 controller and SK Hynix’s V6 128-layer eTLC 3D NAND flash memory, supports NVMe 1.4, and uses PCIe 4.0 x4 dual ports. It is U.3 specification and backward compatible with U.2, the thickness is 7/15mm, the continuous reading speed is 7400MB/s, and the continuous writing speed is 7200MB/s. Random read/write is 175W/47W IOPS, standby power consumption is 6.5W, random read power consumption is 13.5W, and random write power consumption is 17.9W. Its 1 DWPD capacity starts from 1.92TB and goes up to 15.36TB, and in the case of 3 DWPD, the capacity starts from 1.6TB and goes up to 12.8TB.

The X1 is also a customizable PCIe 4.0 SSD platform that provides more computing performance with less power consumption. Under the same power, the data reading performance of X1 is more than 30% of that of existing competitors. It is an enterprise-level PCIe 4.0 SSD solution that provides high quality of service (QoS) and is cost-effective. Phison said that, as the world’s largest SSD ODM/OEM manufacturer, it hopes to build a successful brand for customers through the highly customized X1 SSD.

At present, Seagate has launched products based on the X1 SSD platform, called Nytro 5050 series SSD.
