AMD launched two series of Zen 4 architecture Ryzen mobile processors, Ryzen 7045 and 7040, at CES 2023 at the beginning of the year. Among them, the Ryzen 7045 series is aimed at mobile workstations and high-end and enthusiast gaming notebooks. It is the first time that
AMD provides 16-core and 32-thread products on the mobile platform. In essence, it is the mobile version code-named “Raphael” on the desktop platform, but it is replaced with a BGA package, with up to two CCD chips using a 5nm process and one IOD chip using a 6nm process.
Obviously, Ryzen 7045 is aimed at Intel’s 13th generation Core HX series, and the method is the same as Intel’s HX series processors, directly repackaging the desktop processor and using it on the notebook, the TDP is pulled to more than 55W, and it will also be named Ryzen 7045HX. Compared with the 45W Ryzen 7040H series processors, it has more cores and a larger cache, but the size of the iGPU is significantly reduced because these processors will be paired with more powerful discrete graphics.
At CES 2023, AMD only showed the performance comparison of the flagship Ryzen 9 7945HX with the Ryzen 9 6900HX and Core i9-12900HX. Now
videocardz has released a new official promotional material, which contains a comparison of Ryzen 7 7745HX and Ryzen 5 7645HX with rival products. The comparison objects are Core i7-12700H and Core i5-12500H, which lead by 6% and 7% respectively in the single-thread test of R23, and lead by 25% and 9% in the multi-thread test.
In fact, Intel also has Core i5-12600HX and 12450HX models, but AMD does not use them as comparison objects. Please refer to the table below for specific product alignment.
In fact, Intel’s 13th-generation Core HX series processors have been launched, but AMD’s promotional materials and tests were done in December last year, so the new 13th-generation products have not yet been obtained. And there is another problem. The above test Ryzen 7045HX processor uses DDR5-5200 memory, while the 12th generation Core uses DDR5-4800 memory.
