openSUSE + LibreOffice conference may be held in the form of virtual conference
Affected by the new coronavirus outbreak, many of the technical conferences originally planned to be held this year have been announced to be canceled or changed to online. The organizers of the openSUSE + LibreOffice conference held a meeting last week to discuss various topics about COVID19 and its possible impact on the conference and existing programs.
The conference will take place as planned from October 13 to October 16 in Nurnberg, it is not yet certain what restrictions will be adopted by governments in the next few months, so there are many issues to consider, such as travel restrictions The availability of flights, hotels and venues, the scale of activities, and the feasibility of community members participating in meetings. In this regard, they hope to decide whether to host the conference by mid-June.
In addition, the organizers of the conference also studied alternatives to the conference, such as the use of virtual meetings. If this solution is feasible, it will continue to investigate which tools are used to achieve this goal. Those interested in participating in the speech can submit the theme of the speech by July 21.
