Nvidia will equip the RTX 4050 with 6GB of video memory
NVIDIA may soon launch a series of GPUs based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, possibly introducing three or even four new graphics cards. According to recent rumors, the GeForce RTX 4070 is set to arrive in April, with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 expected before Computex 2023. The latest news concerns the GeForce RTX 4050, a lower-end GPU, which suggests that NVIDIA is shifting its product line to the GeForce RTX 40 series faster.
According to a report from MEGAsizeGPU, NVIDIA plans to release the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti at the end of May, followed by the GeForce RTX 4050 in June. Unlike previous rumors, the release date for the GeForce RTX 4060 is still uncertain. However, as early as January, Mingxuan submitted new documents related to the GeForce RTX 4050 to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), so NVIDIA’s plans for a release are not surprising.
NVIDIA is known for frequently adjusting its product release schedule. The previous generation GeForce RTX 3050 appeared in relevant documents as early as January 2021. Still, it was not released until January 2022, a delay of an entire year, and about 7 months later than the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 3050. If the leaked timeline is accurate, the GeForce RTX 4050 will be about 4 months later than the corresponding mobile version.
It is not yet clear what the specifications of the GeForce RTX 4050 will be, but it is likely to be based on the AD107 GPU, with 2560 CUDA cores, matching the mobile version. There are rumors that it will have 6GB of VRAM with a corresponding bus width of 96 bits, which is a downgrade compared to the 8GB VRAM and 192-bit bus width of the GeForce RTX 3050. The GeForce RTX 4050, like the GeForce RTX 4060, faces a similar situation of reduced VRAM capacity and bus width, with the latter dropping from the initial 12GB and 192 bits to 8GB and 128 bits, respectively.
