Nvidia may resupply GTX 1080 Ti due to the shortage of GPUs
In the past few months, the most frustrating thing is probably the shortage and price increase of various PC hardware, especially graphics cards. If you are a game player, this is a problem that cannot be avoided, and cannot be solved by the integrated display. According to various sources in recent times, Nvidia has resumed or increased the supply of a number of old GPUs in the near future, including GeForce GT 1030 / GTX 1050Ti / GTX 1650 / RTX 2060 (Super), in order to solve the urgent need. There are rumors that GeForce GTX 1080 Ti may be the next graphics card that will resume supply.
As the former top flagship GPU card, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti based on the Pascal architecture is still a product with a high level of performance. Whether NVIDIA will really resume the supply of this product is not yet known, but the news reported by individual users pretends to be such a sign.
According to PCGamesN, on the Korean hardware forum Quasarzone, a user submitted a damaged EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 graphics card to the manufacturer, requesting warranty repair or replacement, and it seemed that a brand new graphics card was returned. Judging from the serial number, the production date of the card is 2021.
Another user claimed in the post that he also received the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti recently produced by EVGA from its FTW product line. It is normal for the manufacturer to have inventory or stock up for warranty, or continue production for a period of time. However, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has been on the market four years ago (March 2017), after which NVIDIA has successively launched the GeForce RTX 20 series and the GeForce RTX 30 series. GeForce GTX 1080 Ti production will continue in 2021, which is a bit strange.
Of course, there are still many possibilities here. For example, EVGA does have stocks for a long time to make full preparations for the warranty. It is also possible that Nvidia quietly placed an order to supplement this GPU in a small amount for partners in case of emergency. It has been reported that Nvidia will increase the supply of GeForce GTX 1650.
