Nvidia acquires data storage solution provider Excelero
Nvidia announced that it has acquired Excelero, a provider of data storage solutions. Excelero is a provider of enterprise data storage and block storage solutions, with an associated high-performance software. Excelero is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, with seven R&D centers in Israel and approximately 2,800 employees.
Excelero’s team includes engineers with extensive experience working in HPC, storage, and networking, bringing deep expertise in block storage used in large enterprise storage area networks. Regarding the Nvidia acquisition, Excelero CEO and co-founder Yaniv Romem said:
The Excelero team is joining NVIDIA as demand is surging for high-performance computing and AI. We’ll be working with NVIDIA to ensure our existing customers are supported, and going forward we’re thrilled to apply our expertise in block storage to NVIDIA’s world-class AI and HPC platforms.
Founded in 2014, Excelero developed NVMesh. It uses an enhanced version of NVMe-oF and is considered the best choice for web-scale deployments and big data use cases, providing low-latency distributed block storage that combines the performance of local flash with the convenience of centralized storage. Excelero’s software has won praise from users for its high throughput, low latency, and support for Kubernetes containers, and has also attracted many cloud service providers to cooperate with it.
