Nixxes is working on remakes of Sony’s first-party classics
In 2021, Sony acquired the Nixxes Software gaming studio located in Utrecht, Netherlands, assigning it the critical task of porting more PlayStation-exclusive games to PC. Sony had previously pledged to introduce more PlayStation-exclusive titles to the PC platform, and the wealth of porting experience amassed by Nixxes Software, founded in 1999, could significantly assist Sony in achieving this objective.
According to a report by Wccftech, Nixxes Software’s Chief Engineer, Coen Frauenfelder, recently revealed that the gaming studio is dedicated to developing remastered versions of first-party classic games, while also providing PlayStation Studios with a greater number of high-quality PC ports. Although Nixxes Software will not create complete games, it focuses on specific areas.
Since coming under Sony’s aegis, Nixxes Software has accomplished considerable work on Sony’s first-party games for the PC platform, such as providing several patches for “Horizon Zero Dawn,” markedly enhancing the PC version’s performance. Furthermore, it has ported Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” both of which feature excellent porting quality. Its subsequent project is “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart,” with the PC version scheduled for release on July 26th this year.
Some gamers might be curious about which first-party classic Sony game Nixxes Software is currently remastering. Speculation suggests that it may be “Bloodborne” developed by From Software, as numerous gamers have expressed their wish to play this game on PC since its release. Given the multitude of Sony‘s first-party classic games, there is a vast array of choices, potentially heightening fans’ expectations.
