NetEase announced that it will open a new first-party studio in Austin, Texas, called Jackalope Games, which is mainly responsible for the development of
PC games and console games, and will give sufficient funds and creative space to create exciting new games.
Jackalope Games will be led by gaming industry veteran Jack Emmert, whose work includes City of Heroes, Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, and DC Universe Online, etc., and have very rich experience in MMORPG development.

Jackalope Games is NetEase’s first first-party studio in the United States. It will operate independently and have autonomy in game development and distribution. Although based in Austin, Texas, Jackalope Games will use virtual offices to recruit talent from around the world. It is understood that the first project of Jackalope Games will be fully funded by NetEase.
