MSI officially releases the MEG 342C QD-OLED monitor
MSI officially releases the MEG 342C QD-OLED monitor, featuring an ultrawide curved screen with a refresh rate of 175Hz. It belongs to MSI’s flagship MEG series of gaming monitors and uses a Samsung QD-OLED panel with quantum dot technology. MSI had announced its plan to launch this monitor last year, but it faced some issues and was not released until now after several adjustments.
Samsung is currently the only manufacturer with mass-produced QD-OLED panels, which theoretically offer a better color gamut than regular OLED panels. The QD-OLED panel uses quantum dot color filters to enhance the color gamut. By using blue OLED to excite the red and green lights on the color filter, blue light can directly pass through. Dell’s Alienware AW3423DW monitor is said to use the same panel as the MEG 342C QD-OLED.
The MEG 342C QD-OLED monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3440 x 1440 resolution, 1800R curvature, peak brightness of 1000 nits, 0.1 ms GtG response time, and 99.3% DCI-P3 color gamut, 97.8% Adobe RGB color gamut, and 139.1% sRGB color gamut. Its color accuracy Delta E is less than 2, and it has received VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification, providing excellent picture quality for gaming and daily entertainment.
MSI has also equipped this monitor with a rich set of ports, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DP port, one full-featured USB Type-C port (supporting 65W power delivery), and an audio port. It also provides KVM and hub functions, with four USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports for users to expand peripherals.
The MEG 342C QD-OLED monitor also meets MSI’s highest exclusive color standard, QD Premium Color, and supports the new HMI 2.0 technology, Mystic Light, MSI True Color technology, and the exclusive Premium Color Mode. Users can operate the PBP/PIP, profile switching, and KVM built-in functions of the MEG 342C QD-OLED curved gaming monitor through the Gaming OSD application. It also includes Sound Tune AI noise reduction, intelligent crosshair, color temperature, and intelligent brightness adjustment.
MSI stated that MEG 342C QD-OLED will be available for sale in early March 2023, and the price is not yet clear.
