MSI launches RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 GAMING SLIM
Previously, MSI announced the introduction of its novel GAMING SLIM series of graphics cards. These leverage the efficiency of the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, while embodying a sleeker, slimmer design, coupled with more versatile installation options. The series encompasses twenty products, including the GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, GeForce RTX 4070, and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. However, upon the public release of the GAMING SLIM series, the flagship cards of the 40 series, RTX 4090 and 4080, were conspicuously absent.
Recently, MSI unveiled the enigmatic RTX 4090/4080 GAMING SLIM, launching six variants, all featuring a triple fan design. These are classified under the GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X SLIM 24G, GAMING SLIM 24G, and the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING X SLIM and GAMING SLIM. The RTX 4090 comes in two versions, both in black, while the RTX 4080 offers a choice between black and white.
While flagship graphics cards boasting top-tier performance are highly sought after by enthusiastic gamers, their substantial size has been a point of contention. Gamers often lament that their graphics card is too large to fit into their cases. MSI’s newly launched GAMING SLIM evidently boasts a more compact dimension and volume. For perspective, the RTX 4090 GAMING SLIM has been streamlined from 337 x 140 x 67mm to 322 x 136 x 62mm, transitioning from a quad-slot thickness to a tri-slot, and its weight has been reduced from 2170g to 1777g, a reduction of 203g. As for the RTX 4080 GAMING SLIM, compared to the GAMING TRIO model, its size has been refined from 337 x 140 x 67mm to 322 x 136 x 62mm, with the weight lessened from 1876g to 1673g.
Although adjustments have been made to the dimensions and weight of the GAMING SLIM series, MSI asserts that these modifications will not compromise the cooling efficiency of the graphics card. Furthermore, the card frequencies will remain consistent with the original models.
