MSI launches its first Intel EVO certified laptop

Yesterday, we detailed the advantages of Intel’s latest Intel EVO high-end brand program, which was previously called the Athena certification program by Intel.

The new Intel Evo platform brand represents the best laptops designed to help you focus and get things done no matter where you are. Based on 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics and verified to the second edition specification and key experience indicators of Project Athena under an intensified testing methodology, Intel and its co-engineering partners are once again raising the bar for laptop experiences.

By measuring workflows under real-world conditions for consistent performance and battery life together, Intel’s unique testing and measurement methodology provides a preview into how a laptop will perform each day. Only the laptop designs that consistently meet or beat the KEIs and specification are verified to use the Intel Evo badge. KEI targets are minimums and include:

  • Consistent responsiveness on battery6
  • System wake from sleep in less than 1 second
  • Nine or more hours of real-world battery life on systems with FHD displays7
  • Fast charging with up to a four-hour charge in under 30 minutes on systems with FHD displays8

If equipment manufacturers want to participate in the EVO program, they need the hardware to meet the specified requirements, and then submit it to Intel for certification and then affix the Intel EVO brand logo.

This brand logo represents a high-end laptop powered by Intel’s high-performance processor. Of course, the hardware configuration is indeed better but the price is high. For example, the latest Intel-certified notebook from MSI is priced at US$1,549, and the device will be available next month.

MSI’s new device is equipped with Intel’s 11th-generation Core processor, provides instant wake-up and WiFi 6 support, and is equipped with a 14-inch FHD display at 60Hz.

With 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, the overall weight is only 1.289 kilograms, the battery can provide 12 hours of battery life and get up to 1.5 hours of power out of a 15-minute charge.

This time, MSI also updated the thin and light gaming notebook. The Stealth 15M with Intel’s 11th-generation Core processor is only 0.63 inches thick.

These devices are equipped with PCIe Gen 4 SSD solid-state drives, offering Thunderbolt 4 interface and NVIDIA RTX 2060 or FTX 1660 Ti GPU.

According to Intel EVO hardware requirements, MSI also provides facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, TPM 2.0 security chip, integrated Intel Iris X graphics card, etc. for these devices.

The company has not disclosed the specific configuration, price, and time to market of all devices, but it is speculated that these new devices should be listed in a concentrated manner next month.
