MSI launches CLAW handheld console
MSI has announced the official launch of the CLAW handheld console, the first handheld gaming device on the market to feature Intel’s Meteor Lake processor.
The appearance of the CLAW handheld, which had previously been leaked, is familiar to many. It boasts a sleek black exterior, measuring 294 x 117 x 21.2 mm and weighing 675g. Users can opt for the high-performing Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, which offers 6 Performance-cores (P-cores), 8 Efficient-cores (E-cores), and 2 Low-Power Efficient-cores (LPE), amounting to 16 cores and 22 threads with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.8 GHz. Alternatively, there is the option of the Core Ultra 5 1x5H processor, featuring 14 cores and 18 threads.
The device integrates Arc Alchemist graphics, with the Core Ultra 7 equipped with 8 Xe cores and the Core Ultra 5 with 7 Xe cores. It is fitted with 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory, contrary to the previously leaked 32GB, and offers an M.2 2230 slot with a choice of a 512GB or 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The device features a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a brightness of 500 nits, and supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). It includes Intel Killer BE Wi-Fi 7+Bluetooth 5.4, two 2W speakers, and is equipped with a Thunderbolt 4 port, a microSD card slot, and an audio jack. The internal 53Whr battery is accompanied by a 65W PD power adapter, and it runs on Windows 11 Home operating system.
MSI has introduced a Turbo mode on the CLAW handheld, achieving a 35W performance release, which increases to 40W when connected to a power source. Through the MSI AI Engine, various system settings can be automatically adjusted to better suit the needs of gamers. Additionally, the Cooler Boost HyperFlow technology can adjust airflow direction for enhanced cooling of internal components. MSI claims that the CLAW handheld’s joysticks are durable and precise, ergonomically designed for comfort. The MSI Center M offers a user-friendly interface specifically designed for handheld devices, ensuring an optimal gaming experience.
MSI plans to release the CLAW handheld in the first half of this year, with the specific date yet to be confirmed. The expected starting price is $699 (approximately 5004.77 CNY).
