Microsoft will use Storage Sense instead of Disk Cleanup tools

The disk cleanup tools that have been released for many years mainly help users to clean up the browser cache and various log and error reports generated by the system.

But Microsoft’s current goal is to remove the control panel and then switch all programs to Windows 10, although it’s still a long way from achieving this goal.

At the same time, as with traditional screenshot tools and drawing tools, more and more applications are being entirely replaced by new tools from Windows 10.

Next is the disk cleanup tool:

The upcoming major release of Windows 10 has focused on developing and improving Storage Sense to help users automatically clean up redundant files on a regular basis.

Storage Sense runs automatically at set timing or when there is not enough storage space. The files that Storage Sense support cleans up now include the following types:

Temporary installation files, expired index content, system cache files, IE/EDGE browser cache files, installed device driver remnants;

Residual program files downloaded by the system, system log files that have expired, system error MINIDUMP files, temporary files generated by the system, and so on.

At present, although it has not been officially released, the storage-aware function has surpassed the disk cleaning tool, and users can completely clean it up with new tools.

Even users can abandon other cache cleaning tools to use Storage Sense directly, and less software for users can reduce unnecessary trouble.

Eliminate disk cleanup tools:

Although the disk cleanup tool can still be seen in the disk properties of the upcoming release, in Microsoft’s words, it is only for compatibility considerations.

At the same time, Microsoft has now clearly stated that the disk cleaning tool has been deprecated, but in the latest version, Microsoft will continue to retain the tool.

In the end, whether Microsoft will continue to keep disk cleaning tools is still unknown, and it seems that it cannot become a stand-alone application compared to application disk cleaning such as drawing.

Although the traditional application such as drawing is removed, the user can still install it actively, and the disk cleaning tool is integrated, so it is a high probability that it will be deleted in the future.
