Linus announced a break for a while, apologizing to the community for past words and deeds

As the originator of the mountain, any little news about Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux, will quickly spread on the Internet. No, he announced that he had to take a break on the kernel mailing list today, which immediately caused a fierce discussion among netizens.

Linus Torvalds’s “detonation” is evident to everyone. The kernel maintainer code is not well written, hehe; the vendor is not actively dealing with the problem, hehe; the standard is not pleasing to the eye. It’s such a big sigh of the air, and now it’s a severe public announcement that it’s going to apologize to the community for its past words and deeds.

On the kernel mailing list, Linus Torvalds  announced the release of Linux 4.19-rc4, and announced a significant news: he will leave and reflect for a while, apologizing to the community for past words and deeds, he has asked the stable kernel maintainer Greg Kroah- Hartman took over from him to complete the work of 4.19.

Torvalds sparked a heated discussion in the community because of the wrong date of the Kernel Maintainers Summit, and this discussion eventually prompted Torvalds to think that he should reflect on it and need to “look in the mirror.”

Linus Torvalds has never been a gentle-spoken person. He likes the discussion of confrontation, but this confrontational discussion is sometimes considered a personal attack. Torvalds admits that this is unprofessional and unnecessary. He sincerely apologizes for this. He needs to change his behavior and want to apologize to those who have been hurt by his words.

He needs to leave for a while and needs help to understand a person’s emotions and reactions more appropriately. His departure is not a “heart-to-heart” exit. He still wants to continue to maintain Linux. Even though he has been working on this project for nearly 30 years, he still strongly wants to continue doing the job. This break is more like the moment he left to develop a gadget called “git,” but this time he wants to do is to correct his behavior.
