Microsoft will rename Visual Studio Online to Visual Studio Codespaces
Visual Studio Online is an online editor project previously launched by Microsoft. The project is actually developed based on the Visual Studio Code editor.
Visual Studio Code is an open-source, free, and highly compatible code editor from Microsoft. The online version of the integrated cloud service is provided to developers for a fee.
Yesterday night, Microsoft announced that it will officially rename the Visual Studio Online Cloud IDE, and the new brand name is Visual Studio Codespaces.
Of course, from a developer’s perspective, the name of Visual Studio Codespaces is indeed more appropriate, after all, it is originally based on Visual Studio Code.
The good news is that Microsoft announced the name change and also reduced the price of the product, while also providing developers with a relatively low-performance but cheaper version.
At the same time as the name change, Microsoft will also reduce the price of the cloud editor project, and the price reduction of more than 50% looks very attractive.
When the developer’s code needs to be hosted and stored in Microsoft Azure, it will trigger the billable activity space and then generate the bill to be paid by the developer.
The current price is $0.45/hour for the standard version of the 4-core 8GB memory, while the premium version of the 8-core 16GB memory version is $0.87/hour. From next week, the price of the above examples will be reduced to $0.17 /hour and $0.34/hour
