Microsoft will officially launch Teams-Skype interoperability this month
Microsoft officially announced that it will launch the interoperability of two of its instant messaging software this month, and users of Microsoft Teams will be able to communicate with consumers of Skype users, and vice versa. This interworking function will be pushed to Office 365 and Microsoft 365 users.
Microsoft first disclosed the arrival of this feature as early as July last year, and users could then use this feature to type and chat or call each other with users on another platform.
However, this feature will not be turned on by default. Microsoft said in a reminder in the Office 365 Message Center: “Admins who wish to enable this feature will need to go to Microsoft 365 admin center > External access and Enable users to communicate with Skype users.”
For users, the interoperability between the consumer version of Skype and Microsoft Teams is a happy thing. After all, Microsoft announced earlier that it will close Skype for Business Online in 2021. This also gives users a reason to be willing to try Microsoft Teams as the successor of Skype for Business Online. After all, being able to communicate with the consumer version of Skype will further reduce the time cost for users to exchange chat software.
