Microsoft will add send from proxy addresses (aliases) from OWA
After many users called for years, Microsoft finally provided SMTP mail forwarding for the web version of the Outlook mailbox service, allowing users to send mail under aliases. Email delegation is a feature that many enterprise users may often use. This feature allows a specific email address to be used for outgoing emails. When the user clicks the sender’s email address, the proxy address and the actual address are usually displayed, but this feature provided by Microsoft will directly hide the actual address.
This message was released by the Microsoft Office 365 team when the roadmap was announced. The mailing function according to the time of the roadmap will be launched in 2020Q4. The function allows business members to use multiple domain names or sending addresses that the company was bound to deliver mail so that the mailboxes published to the outside can become a unified address. What is interesting is that unlike most mail service providers, this function will hide the sender’s actual address by default, and users will not show the actual address when they point to the sender. The actual address is shown to prevent email fraud from a security perspective, but Microsoft has not yet explained why it did not provide the recipient with the actual address.
Microsoft has recently announced that the web version of Outlook will transition to a progressive web application, meaning that users can install the PWA version directly on the desktop platform. This version is essentially based on the web and browser, so the resource consumption is extremely low. There is no need to install a desktop client and it is convenient for users to quickly open it. This version also supports viewing the received emails offline, while online you can receive new email notifications in real-time without having to open a web page.
