Microsoft Teams service adds online Payments function
Microsoft has announced collaborations with industry partners such as PayPal, Stripe, and GoDaddy to incorporate online payment capabilities within their Microsoft Teams service. Users will now be able to make payments directly through a feature named “Payments” while working collaboratively online.
At present, this functionality is only available for preview testing in the United States and Canada. Its primary purpose is to facilitate convenient payments for businesses using Microsoft Teams to discuss collaborations with external partners, utilizing services provided by PayPal, Stripe, and GoDaddy.
In practice, when a company or merchant links the “Payments” feature within Microsoft Teams to their corresponding PayPal, Stripe, or GoDaddy payment service account, they can generate payment links within the Teams service. Clients can then complete transactions using credit cards, bank accounts, or digital wallet services.
The newly added “Payments” feature can be freely downloaded and extended by subscribers of Microsoft Teams Essentials and Microsoft 365 Business. Currently, the supported payment services are PayPal and Stripe, with GoDaddy’s payment service included in the support list but set to launch at a later date.
As for future applications, this feature may serve as a payment tool for online courses, teachings, or paid consultations offered through the Microsoft Teams service. Microsoft anticipates that this addition will attract more customers promoting their businesses via Teams, providing them with a more convenient method for collecting payments.
