On August 20, 2018, Microsoft announced that new application and application updates are no longer available for Windows Phone 8.x and Windows 8.x systems on the Microsoft Store. In the blog post at the time, Windows Phone 8.x devices will stop receiving app updates on July 1, 2019, and Windows 8.x devices will stop app updates on July 1, 2023.

However, it has recently been discovered that the content of this blog post has changed, and Windows 8 devices will stop getting app updates on July 1, 2019, just like Windows Phone 8.x devices. Windows 8.1 devices will continue to receive updates until the previously announced time (July 1, 2023).

Windows 8 is the operating system released by Microsoft on October 26, 2012. It was originally launched by Microsoft in order to join the mobile ecosystem war and compete with Apple’s user market for touch-screen operating systems. At the beginning of the release, Win 8 may have had a period of glory, and with the launch of Windows Phone, it gained a lot of popularity, but soon there were various problems. For example, poor software compatibility and more. Windows Phone also withdrew with the strategic failure of Nokia and Microsoft.
