Microsoft releases Windows 10 KB5005932 update to fix cumulative update error
Microsoft released the KB5005932 update to Windows 10 version 20H1/20H2/21H1. This update is not a security update and can be counted as an out-of-band update.
The purpose of this update is to fix the compatibility installation error caused by the previous cumulative update: PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING
This error occurs when the user installs other cumulative updates, and the installation cannot be continued, so Microsoft releases an update to solve the problem so as not to affect the user’s use.
It is recommended that users who have the above errors install this compatibility fix update in time, otherwise the follow-up cumulative update launched by Microsoft will also fail to install.
Microsoft stated that this problem occurs on devices that are automatically cleaned up to delete obsolete resource records. The most recently installed cumulative update will be marked as permanent when the system is cleaned up.
At the same time, this operation will also delete older components from the system. After the cleaning is completed, if the device is in this state, KB5003214/5003690 cannot be uninstalled.
And users will not be able to install any cumulative updates in the future. For this reason, Microsoft has introduced a compatibility fix that allows users to manually perform updates by configuring the registry.
It is particularly important to note that Microsoft mentioned that only ARM64 devices need to install this update, but the support bulletin states that x86 and x64 devices also support this update.
After installing the update, open the command prompt in the administrator mode, and then paste the following code and press Enter. After the operation, the system will receive the latest cumulative update within 48 hours.
Reg.exe Add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion /v AllowInplaceUpgrade /t REG_DWORD /f /d 1
