Microsoft plans to close the Windows Store for Business and Store for Education
The predecessor of the Microsoft Store was the Windows 10 Store, and the original Store in these years has provided many different types of products for sale online.
Microsoft has previously decided to rename the application store and directly switch to the Microsoft Store, but the ability of the Microsoft store in application distribution is still very weak.
Few developers are now willing to develop applications based on the UWP architecture, and Microsoft itself has given up investing in the UWP general platform architecture.
After adjusting its development strategy, the company also intends to clean up the distribution direction of the Microsoft Store and gradually remove the distribution stores that were originally provided to businesses and educational environments.
The original purpose of Microsoft’s application store for enterprises and educational environments was to allow administrators to deploy a variety of applications based on a common platform architecture to users in batches.
At the same time, for enterprises in need, they can also customize applications and then perform custom assignments, such as distributing applications to specific users only within the enterprise.
According to a news report obtained by ZDNET, Microsoft plans to close the Windows 10 application store for enterprises and educational institutions from June 30, 2020.
Of course, this does not mean that companies and educational institutions can no longer install common platform applications. These users can still download applications through the consumer version of the Microsoft Store.
