Microsoft Office 2016 will be moved into extended support starting in October
Many of the software we are familiar with will end support in the upcoming 2020. End of support means that no feature updates or security support will be provided. In addition to the software that is about to end support, there are many software’s that have begun to change from mainstream support to extended support, which means that this software will no longer receive feature updates.
Mainstream support mainly refers to regular support that provides functional updates and security updates, while extended support no longer provides function updates and only provides security updates. For example, the Microsoft Office 2016 released in the fall of 2015 will enter the ranks of extended support in October 2020 and only provide security support.
Entering the extended support cycle only supports updates that no longer provide functionality. For example, after the deadline, Microsoft no longer provides new features to the corresponding software. No longer providing updates for new features will not affect the user or business use, and Microsoft will continue to provide security updates for these products. Users who are just pursuing new features should upgrade to the latest version or they will no longer be able to obtain new feature updates.
