Microsoft Office 2013 will reach End-of-Support on April 11, 2023
The Microsoft Technical Exchange Community recently released a new product support announcement. This announcement is an 18-month notice for the Microsoft Office 2013 series.
The extended support period for this series of versions will end on April 11, 2023, and home or business users need to upgrade to the new version in a timely manner in the next 18 months.
After reaching the end of the life cycle, Microsoft will no longer provide any security support for this series of versions, and will not provide updates even if known security vulnerabilities are discovered.
Microsoft stated in the announcement that after the above version expires, it will no longer receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates.
If homes or businesses still use these versions after the expiration date, users may face increasing security risks and compliance issues over time.
Microsoft recommends that enterprises use the Microsoft 365 subscription service, but if the enterprise uses it in a network-free environment, it can also use other offline office software suites.
Currently available options include Microsoft Office 2019 and Microsoft Office 2021, followed by the long-term version of Microsoft Office LTSC.
Of course, it is long-term, but Microsoft Office LTSC only has 5 years of support. After the support policy is adjusted, the support cycle of the Microsoft Office software suite is 5 years.
Similarly, after the expiration date, enterprises can still use the old version but lack security support, which means that enterprises need to upgrade at least once every five years to ensure safe use.
