At the Microsoft Build 2022 developer conference, Microsoft announced that it will launch a customized Windows Dev Kit 2023 development kit for developers. The kit is actually a mini-host powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 computing platform.
The development kit is clearly for the ARM platform, and Microsoft wants to help developers bring their apps to ARM devices. At present, Windows mainly runs on the x86 platform, but Microsoft has already cooperated with Qualcomm to launch the ARM version of the system, but the development of ARM in the Windows camp is not smooth. Although Microsoft has also launched the Surface equipped with ARM chips, the Windows on ARM ecosystem has not yet been developed.
The Windows Dev Kit 2023 launched this time is to attract more developers to actively participate in the construction of the Windows on ARM ecosystem. Of course, whether it is attractive is still unknown.
