Microsoft is developing Windows Server 2022
Microsoft may release a new long-term support version based on 21H2 in the fall of 2021, namely Windows 10 LTSC 2022.
Under normal circumstances, Microsoft will release new long-term support versions every 3 years. These versions are based on major version updates of Windows 10 before the release time. For example, Windows 10 LTSC 2019 is based on Windows 10 v1809, and LTSC 2016 is based on Windows 10 v1607.
Although Windows 10 LTSC 2022 version was only a rumor before, there is already new evidence to prove that the new version will officially arrive next fall.
When it comes to the long-term support version, we have to mention the server version. Microsoft’s server operating system is now updated at the same frequency as the long-term service channel version.
Microsoft has never mentioned the name Windows 10 LTSC 2022, but now the name Windows Server 2022 has been decided. This name appeared in the Windows 10 Dev channel, which means that Windows 10 LTSC 2022 will also arrive as scheduled.
The specific release time, Microsoft usually prepares the beta version from the fall to the end of the year and releases the stable version the following year, so the new long-term support version should be available in the next autumn.
The major version update next fall is Windows 10 21H2, so LTSC 2022 and Server 2022 will be developed based on 21H2.
