Microsoft is bringing the Xbox app to Samsung 2022 Smart TVs
In the past few years, Microsoft has continued to promote cloud gaming services with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and the number of users of Xbox Cloud Gaming has exceeded 10 million. Microsoft unveiled its Xbox Everywhere program last month, which aims to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to more devices. The Xbox team is working with Samsung to develop an Xbox streaming app for its TVs and confirmed Microsoft’s plans for a streaming device that can stream games and videos.
Microsoft has officially announced that it’s bringing the Xbox app to Samsung’s 2022 TVs, allowing users to play hundreds of games from its Game Pass Ultimate library without a console, and Fortnite without a subscription. Starting June 30, 2022, users will be able to play Xbox games on Samsung TVs by accessing the Xbox app from Samsung Game Center or Media Center, logging into their existing Microsoft account, and connecting a Bluetooth controller.
Microsoft said the Xbox cloud gaming service will expand to more countries and regions and is currently open to players in Argentina and New Zealand. As Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer sees it, “We’re building a platform that can reach billions of players—whether it’s on console, whether it’s on PC, whether it’s through Xbox cloud streaming – where players on any device they want to play on should be able to find the content they want to play.”
In addition, with continued Windows 11 updates, Clarity Boost technology for the Edge browser for Xbox Cloud Gaming, and interface optimizations to further enhance the cloud gaming experience, including improved latency, new HDR calibration for improved color accuracy and consistency, support for variable refresh rate (VRR), and more.
