Recently, TrendForce released the latest research report, showing that the total revenue of the world’s top ten IC design companies in the first quarter of 2022 was $39.43 billion, a year-on-year increase of 44%. Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Broadcom ranked in the top three; AMD surpassed MediaTek after acquiring Xilinx and ranked fourth; Will Semiconductor and Cirrus Logic entered the top ten for the first time.
Qualcomm’s revenue in the first quarter of 2022 reached $9.55 billion, a year-on-year increase of 52%, ranking first. Nvidia’s revenue in the first quarter of 2022 reached $7.9 billion, up 53% year-on-year, thanks to strong performance in its data center and gaming businesses. Broadcom has performed well in network chips, broadband communication chips, and storage and bridge chips, and its performance has risen steadily. In the first quarter of 2022, its revenue was US$6.11 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26%. After completing the acquisition of Xilinx, AMD’s revenue in the first quarter of 2022 was $5.89 billion, a year-on-year increase of 71%.

MediaTek increased its chip shipments through product structure optimization, and its revenue in the first quarter of 2022 increased to $5.01 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32%. Marvell jumped to sixth place this quarter, as its acquisition of cloud and edge data center networking solutions provider Innovium in October 2021 contributed 125% annual growth to its 1Q22 data center revenue, bringing total revenue to US$1.41 billion. Novatek’s business is mainly focused on display driver ICs and SoCs, with revenue of $1.28 billion in the first quarter of 2022, a year-on-year increase of 38%.
