Microsoft has deleted the legacy version of Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 Build 19043.899
The legacy version of Microsoft Edge has now ended its support officially, and for now, Microsoft hides the browser by default.
For example, Windows 10 20H1 and 20H2 have been pushed to install the Chromium Microsoft Edge browser. After installing the new version, the legacy version of Microsoft Edge will be hidden but has not been deleted.
In the latest version of Windows 10 Build 19043.899, Microsoft has deleted the legacy version of Microsoft Edge, which can be regarded as Microsoft’s advanced test.
The Build 19043 series is the Windows 10 21H1 version. The official version of this version has not yet been released and is currently only tested in the Windows 10 Beta channel.
According to Microsoft’s instructions, the Chromium Microsoft Edge browser will be directly integrated into the cumulative security update, that is, the installation of the security update will automatically delete the Microsoft Edge legacy version and replace it with Chromium Microsoft Edge.
Cumulative security updates cannot be left uninstalled for a long time by users, so as long as they are installed, they will be replaced by mandatory updates. After the updates are installed, the old browser will disappear completely.
Microsoft hopes that companies can complete the transition to the Chromium Microsoft Edge browser as soon as possible, which means that Microsoft will not release solutions to enable companies to retain the old version.
Therefore, migration is almost necessary for enterprises. It is impossible to not install security updates for a long time for the browser, which will also pose a threat to the internal security of the enterprise.
